We Started the day out by bringing the little 4 year old back for a exam under anesthesia. We were all concerned that both the little one and mom had been traumatized by the attempt yesterday to remove a clot from her ear canal. I advocated for nasal versed to decrease the traumatic memories caused by the white folks...it worked like a charm...she cried for a nano second but went to sleep peacefully in her papa's arms.
My DCH OR friends will giggle at the notion...that I spent today as a circulator for two septoplasty and one tympanoplasty cases. Luckily the surgeon, scrub and anesthesiologist were all patient and willing to give me direction...it was fun...but I'll keep my day job as they say..
Have bonded with the two OR nurses Peg and Deb.
